Susan E. Wissinger, (nee-Eckhart), 61, of Elyria passed away Thursday March 8, 2012 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness. She was born April 19, 1950 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Sue was self-employed in child care for 42 years, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria, the Alter & Rosary Society of the church, and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1079 Ladies Auxillary. A 1968 Elyria High School graduate, she loved children and enjoyed photo's and visiting lighthouses, gardening, poetry, and baking cookies for others. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Bill Jr.; daughter, Kristina (Patrick) Thomas of Elyria; sons, Tom Wissinger (Beth Myers) of Amherst and Bill (Debbie) Wissinger III ; grandchildren, Josh, Justin and Emma; great-grandchild, Landon; mother, Catherine Eckhart of Elyria; sisters, Linda Cseak of Brentwood, CA. and Kimberly (Alan) Lauck of Elyria; brothers, Richard Eckhart, Dale (Kathy) Eckhart both of Elyria and Jeffery (Linda) Eckhart of Amherst. The family will receive friends Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. 440-322-4626.
