Obituary

Susan Lynn Stefek (née Mahoney), age 67, of Grafton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. She was born on February 3, 1958, and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and dedication to her community. Susan's early career began with the water and phone companies, where her work ethic and attention to detail first became evident. She later found her professional home as a secretary for the local police department, where she faithfully served for over 30 years. Her commitment, compassion, and professionalism earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and all who interacted with her.

Known for her generosity and creativity, Susan had a gift for crafting thoughtful, handmade presents that brought joy to many. She was an avid collector of Longaberger baskets—each one a reflection of her eye for beauty and appreciation for tradition. A social and spirited presence in the community, Susan was often found offering a helping hand, sharing a warm conversation, or participating in local events with her ever-present smile.

Susan's love for her family was boundless. She is survived by her devoted son, Christopher Stefek (Felicia Detamore); her beloved aunt, Marilyn Zeigler; and her fiancé, Kenneth Campana, with whom she shared a loving companionship in recent years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Stefek, in 2010; her parents, Alvin and Patricia Mahoney (nee Goodlett); and her brother, Roger Mahoney. Susan will be remembered not only for her years of dedicated service and her heartfelt gifts, but for the way she made people feel—seen, valued, and loved. Her absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew her, and her memory will forever be a blessing.
