Steven W. McCroskey Sr. 66, of Elyria passed away on Thursday December 15, 2016 following a long illness. He was born December 6, 1950 in Spencer, WV. Steve was a Keystone High School graduate and served in the Ohio Army National Guard. He spent twenty seven years in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff, and Chief of Police for the City of LaGrange. Following his retirement, he became a Bailiff for Elyria Municipal Court. Steve loved spending time with his family, vacationing in South Carolina, riding his motorcycle, and playing golf. Survivors include his wife of sixteen years; Vicki J. (nee: Cunningham), five daughters; Jennifer Capo of Elyria, Sarah McCroskey of Columbus, Nicole Capo of Elyria, Melissa Capo (Tony) Elyria, Stephanie Sayre (Kerry) of Elyria, two sons; Todd Capo of Elyria, Steven McCroskey Jr. of Amherst. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, his mother; Helen Jordan (nee: Graham) of Grantsville, WV., three brothers; Ron McCroskey (Jackie) of AZ., Roger McCroskey of Belpre, OH, Charles McCroskey (Sherry) of Grantsville, WV. Steve was preceded in death by his father; Roma Crockett McCroskey, brother; Larry, and a sister; Patricia. A celebration of Steve's life will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday December 20, 2016 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
