Steven E. Harder, 62, of Elyria passed away Sunday March 25, 2018 at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake following a brief illness. He was born November 23, 1955 in Marysville, OH. And was a Grafton resident for most of his life. Steve worked for the Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities for many years, retiring in 2012 as a Workshop Director. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton, previously was very active with the Elyria Knights of Columbus Council 774 and enjoyed watching cooking shows and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughters, Tess Harder, Kate (Matt) Douglass and Annie (Tyler) Liszak; son, Joe (Nicole) Harder; grandchildren, Avery, Avalynn, Margo and Caroline; mother, Marlene Harder; mother of his children, Kathy Dixon (nee-Zeolla) 1 sister; 3 brothers; beloved canine companion, Lily. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Monday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 708 Erie St., Grafton. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Friends of Murray Ridge in honor of Steve Harder 1091 Infirmary Rd. Elyria, OH. 44035.
