Steve C. "Midge" Vaszi III 67, of Elyria passed away Wednesday March 12, 2014 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake following a long illness. He was born December 7, 1946 in Elyria and was a lifelong resident. Steve was a machinist for Parker Hannifin, and retired after forty eight years of service. He was a member of Grace Community Church where he served as an usher and greeter. Steve was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather; he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed fishing and golf. Survivors include his wife of forty years; Mary A. (nee: Tegtmeyer), a son Steve C. IV (Melanie) of North Ridgeville, two grandchildren; Steve C. V, and Taylor "Missy", and a brother; Jerry Schultz (Sandy) of LaGrange. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; Steve C. II and Garnett (nee: Jackson) Vaszi. Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Friday March 14, 2014 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria where funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday March 15, 2014. Pastor Ed Wishart of Grace Community Church will officiate.
