Stephen J. Samek, 73, of Spencer and formerly of Elyria passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday November 20, 2021. Loving father of Rick, Jeremy (Stefanie), and Gregory; cherished grandfather of Riley and Walter; dear brother of Rita Bender (Richard); uncle of Ryan Bender and Robin Hyde (Travis); great-uncle of Mary Sage Hyde and Keller Hyde. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Samek (nee-Wilhelm). Steve proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles during the Viet Nam war where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a graduate of West Side Technical Institute and retired from Luxury Heating and Cooling in Elyria. He was a member of the Tinners Union Local 33 and a life member of the V.F.W.. Steve will be truly missed by his family and friends and will be in our hearts forever. Services will be private, with a Celebration of Life Gathering to be announced at a later date.
