Obituary

Stanley R. Wojdyla 75, of Elyria passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 2, 2026 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was born March 24, 1951 in Elyria where he was a lifelong resident. Stan was a 1969 Elyria High School graduate, and retired from the City of Elyria where he served as the Superintendant of Elyria Cemeteries. As most people who knew Stan he was active with numerous civic organizations; Kiwanis, Fraternal Order of Police Associates, Apple Festival, PERI Group, Knights of Columbus, and The Elyria United Polish Club. He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of forty one years; Sandra L. (nee: Keller), a daughter; Cari E. Wooley (Joseph) of Amherst, a son; Bradley J. Wojdyla of Elyria, a grandson; Henry Wooley, a sister; Barbara Houston (Michael) of Virginia Beach, VA, a brother; Joseph Wojdyla (Henny) of Jacksonville, FL. Stan was preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Rose (nee: Siwierka) Wojdyla. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Thursday April 9, 2026 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria (440)322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday April 10, 2026 at St. Agnes Church 611 Lake Ave. Elyria. Please meet at church. The Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Elyria. Stan’s family suggest that memorial contributions in his memory be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
