Stanley Piwinski 88 of Oberlin passed away Monday April 6, 2015 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange following a brief illness. He was born May 17 , 1926 in Cleveland. Stanley attended High School in Henrietta, Ohio. He enjoyed antique cars and tractors. Stanley worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation as an assistant traffic engineer for 34 years, until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of Sacred Heart parish in Oberlin , served as a Director of Lorain County Fair Board , member of LaGrange Engine Club , United Polish Club , PERI Chapter # 83 , and a longtime farmer in Russia Township. Stanley served in the United States Army including time in the Phillipines. Survivors include his wife of 66 years Ruth (nee Sandrock) , daughters Patricia (James ) Stevenson of Springfield , Kathleen (Brian) Duplaga of LaGrange , son John (Lisa) of New Russia Twp. , grandchildren Todd (Amanda) Stevenson of Hilliard , Jennifer Stevenson Walker of Durham, North Carolina , Michael (Amy) Piwinski of Elyria , Jessica and Amanda Duplaga of LaGrange , great-grandson Garrett Stevenson, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Helen, sisters Stella Gotfried , Sophie Dietrich , Theresa Towne , Clara Deery and brother Anthony .Family will receive friends 4-8PM Thursday April 9, 2015 at The Lodge at New Russia Twp. 46300 Butternut Ridge Oberlin. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM Friday April 10, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church 410 W. Lorain Oberlin (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Rev. Fr. Robert J. Cole will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in New Russia Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family suggests donations be made to charity of Donor's Choice.
