Shirley C. Wise (nee Bailey),86, of Elyria passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center. She was born January 21, 1936 in Cleveland. Shirley was a 1954 graduate of North Ridgeville High School, and worked for the Elyria City Schools for 23 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and also lovingly cared for numerous other children for many decades who continued to visit her as adults. Shirley deeply cherished her family and friends, and was known for her devotion to her faith as a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Elyria, her delicious home-cooking, and her love of animals. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Alvin) Rone; son David Wise Sr (Michelle).; grandchildren, David Wise Jr. (Theresa), Daniel Wise (Lindsey), Andrea Rhoades (David), Brittany Cunningham (Dezmon), and Alyshia Rone (Greg Norton); 6 great-grandchildren; sister Virginia Bull; step-brothers, Gary and Greg Bailey; many nieces and nephews who adored her; and dear friend John Trissel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; parents, Virgil and Ruth Bailey (nee VanAlstine); nephews Tommy Pendleton and Fritz Ligotke. Family will receive friends 1-4 PM Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626, where closing prayers will be held 9 AM Monday, March 7, 2022 in the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria, Ohio 44035.
