Shirley J. Altfeld (nee: Cohn) 89, of formerly of Avon Lake and Elyria passed away Thursday October 5, 2017 at The Cleveland Clinic. She was born November 23, 1927 in Lorain. Shirley was a member of Temple B'Nai Abraham in Elyria. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Shirley was an avid tennis player, enjoyed playing cards, and dining out. Survivors include two daughters; Cindy J. Bright (William) of Princeton, NJ., Robin A. Kaufman (Neal) of Westlake, a son; Scott B. Altfeld of Elyria, a daughter in law; Lyn Lewis, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of sixty four years; Leon S. Altfeld, a son: Clifford B. Altfeld, a granddaughter; Daniella Altfeld, two sisters; Alice Lipsin, Selma Friedman, and two brothers; Sheldon and Eddie Cohn. NO VISITATION Funeral services are 1:30 PM Sunday October 8, 2017 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626. Rabbi Lauren Werber of Temple B'Nai Abraham will officiate.
