Sharon Ann Demos, age 80 of Elyria, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 15, 2026.
A lifelong Elyrian, she was born August 20, 1945, to J. LLoyd and Gertrude Foss. Sharon graduated from Elyria Catholic in 1963; she then studied at Kent State University and Baldwin Wallace, where she received her Master’s of Education.
For 30 years, Sharon was a devoted educator. She taught parochial school at St. Mary’s and St. Jude’s, as well as 4th grade at Crestwood Elementary School until she retired in 2011. Her love of teaching and commitment to her students left a lasting impression as many returned to tell her how much they loved her and her class.
Sharon was deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish and its Couples Club. She was also a member of the Canasta Club, the United Polish Club, and a member of the Pioneer Products bowling team.
Family and friends will remember Sharon for her kind and loving spirit, devotion to her friends and family, and her innate ability to always be caught by a train. She loved to travel with her kids and made countless memories across the country. She was an avid reader, and lover of music, notably Elvis and the always smooth Pat Boone. Sharon was also a wonderful cook, who was known for her casseroles, brussel sprouts, and famous mashed potatoes. She was fun, compassionate, and ready for anything. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Ken Demos; sister-in-law, Gayle Demos. She is survived by her two sons, Brian (Kim) and Scott (Heather) Demos, and her five grandchildren: Stephanie (Ryan) Green, Zachary (Erinn) Demos, Alexander, Stephen, and Daniel Demos; brother, Bill (Maureen) Foss; brother-in-laws, Richard Demos and Ray (Linda) Demos; two nephews, Matt and Benjamin Demos.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria.
