Selma V. Fritz (nee: Pilarczyk), 107, of Elyria, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake. She was born in Grafton on October 24, 1917 to parents Steven and Victoria (nee: Litita).  She married her sweetheart, Frank Fritz, on April 24, 1937. Selma worked at Bendix until she retired in 1977. She was a life member and honor guard for the Elyria Polish Club and a participant of their bowling league. Selma was a member of the Brentwood golf league, a poll worker for the Democratic Party for 25 years, and was an original ticket seller for Dad's Booster Club at Elyria Catholic High School. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Agnes Catholic Church. Selma was awarded a proclamation by the City of Elyria for her 100th birthday and an additional proclamation from Lorain County for 107th birthday. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Trudy Roberts; grandchildren, Victoria (Bill) Fritz, Valerie (Larry) Fritz, Mark (Mary) Fritz; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Sarah Fritz; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1997; son, Ronald; sisters, Louise Hess and Martha Porkorney; brothers, Steven and Frank. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Agnes Catholic Church 611 Lake Ave. in Elyria (please meet at church.) Reverend Father Charlie T. Diedrick and Reverend Father Charlie Ryba will concelebrate. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria. Memorial contributions in Selma's name can be sent to St. Agnes Catholic Church.
