Sarah J. "Sally" Learn, age 87, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 10, 1935 in Cleveland to parents Frank and Irene (Toth) Foldesy. Sally graduated West High School in 1954, and later married her sweetheart, John H. Learn, on September 17, 1960. Sally taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and was president of the Walther League at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cleveland. She and John relocated to Jonestown, PA. for 12 years and later returned to Ohio due to John's health and to be near family. He died on June 4, 2011. Survivors include her daughters, Martha Jo (Donald) Schultz of Oregon, IL and Michelle Joy (Michael) Scahel of Brunswick, Ohio; sons, David Jeffrey Learn of North Ridgeville, Ohio and Ethan Jon (Brandy) Learn of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Jacob (Megan) Schultz, Hallie (Jon) Torre, Nora (James) Gorman, Ian Scahel; great-grandchildren, Llewelyn Schultz, Walter Schultz, and Arthur Torre, and Baby Gorman due in May; brother, Donald Foldesy of North Ridgeville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was loved and will be missed by her fur-babies, Missy Gray and Cee Cee. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Elaine Foldesy, and sister, Nancy Ann Kent. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to their friends and The Hospice of the Western Reserve caregivers; especially, Denise and Jill for their kindness, compassion, and caring during their Mom's illness. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 10 AM – 11 AM at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11 AM with Pastor Robert F. Weldon, Sr. and Dan Reinke officiating. A private burial will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH at a later date.
