With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of Sandra J Gerhardt who peacefully left this world on 06/18/2026 at the age of 83.

To know her was to know unconditional love, unwavering strength, and a touch of unforgettable sass. She was the beloved wife who stood faithfully beside the love of her life, a devoted mother whose children were her greatest pride, and a cherished grandma and "Nana" whose arms were always open and whose heart had room for everyone she loved.

Her family was her whole world. Every meal she prepared, every birthday cake she baked, every stitch she sewed, every room she beautifully decorated, and every treasured antique she lovingly collected reflected the care and passion she poured into those around her. She had a remarkable gift for making a house feel like home, filling it with warmth, laughter, delicious aromas, and memories that will be cherished forever.

She was an incredible cook and baker whose recipes nourished both body and soul. As a talented seamstress, she lovingly created and repaired countless items with skilled hands and a generous heart. She had an eye for beauty, transforming ordinary spaces into welcoming homes and finding hidden treasures among antiques that each held a story of their own.

She was also known for her spirited personality. Her quick wit, honest opinions, and sassy sense of humor could make anyone laugh and kept those she loved on their toes. She spoke her mind, loved fiercely, forgave generously, and never left anyone wondering how much they meant to her.

Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort knowing that her legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the lessons she taught, the love she shared so freely, and the family she treasured above all else.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Gerhardt of Georgia; her daughters: Kimberly Johnson (husband Tim) of Vermilion; Jennifer Zwolinski (husband Christopher) of Cleveland; Rebecca Traxler (husband Jim) of Elyria; Fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. and countless friends whose lives were made richer by her kindness, strength, and love.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Reverend Kenneth L. Gerhardt in 2024. Family will receive friends from 4pm until the time of service at 7pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road in Elyria 440-322-4626. Senior Pastor Adrean Young of Heart of God Kingdom Ministry will officiate. Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain at a later date.

Her family invites all who knew and loved her to celebrate a life beautifully lived and deeply loved. While she may no longer walk beside us, her love will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us until we meet again.
