Sandra Lee "Sandy" Phares (nee: Slater), 84, of LaGrange, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 30, 2025 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. Sandy was born on April 26, 1941 to parents James and Geraldine (nee: Lloyd) Slater in Webster Springs, West Virginia. After graduating Elyria High School in 1959, she owned Phares Cleaning in LaGrange for over 50 years. Sandy worked hard her entire life and was fiercely devoted to her family. She enjoyed bowling and throwing family get-togethers. She also enjoyed vacationing with her family to Las Vegas.

Survivors include her husband of over 40 years, Billy; daughters, Michelle Krugman and Pamela (Jeff) Sayers; sons, Donald (Debbie) Reaser, Mark (Bev) Bell, Rick (Jane) Phares; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Provoznik; brother, James Slater, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Funeral service will be held at Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Troy Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Huntington Township Cemetery in Wellington.
