Ruth A. Gibbons, (nee-Gatten), 86, of Elyria passed away Tuesday October 8, 2013 at her home following a unexpected illness. She was born February 21, 1928 in Bellaire, OH. And was a lifelong Elyria resident. Ruth worked at the Hydra-Tube Company in Oberlin as a machine operator for over 30 years. She enjoyed watching television, window shopping and spending time with her grandsons. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Virginia "Faye" Williams of Elyria; grandsons, Jeremy Williams and Brandon Gibbons; sister, Laurie Weekly of Bellaire, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Gibbons in 1987, son, Gregory "Gibby" Gibbons in 2006, sisters, Freda Gatten, Goldie St. John, and Mary Parker, brothers, Thurman, Vernon, Clarence and Elmer Gatten. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
