Ruth E. Altfeld 94, of Elyria passed away Tuesday January 7, 2014 at The Wesleyan Village in Elyria, Ohio. She was born March 12, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York., and moved to Lorain , Ohio at the age of 8. Ruth was a member of Temple B'Nai Abraham in Elyria. She was also a lifetime member of Haddassah and Sisterhood organizations. Ruth was a Board Member of Elyria Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a volunteer at the hospital for over twenty five years earning a 3500 hour badge for her work there. After Ruth's husband Richard retired, they spent seven months a year in Weston, Florida to escape Ohio winters. She was predeceased just six months ago by her husband; Richard to whom she was married seventy years. Ruth leaves behind a daughter; Barb Littman (Danny) of Virginia Beach, VA., a son Ted Altfeld (Helene) of Elyria, grandchildren; Michael and Michelle Littman, Simone Deitch (Mike), and Dena Altfeld, great grandchildren; Benjamin Ravi, and Clara. Ruth was also preceded in death by a sister; Leona Slutzker.
