Russell D. Smith 78, of Elyria passed away Wednesday April 10, 2019 at Kingston of Vermilion. He was born July 23, 1940 in Czar, WV. Russell retired from truck driving, and enjoyed spending time with his loving wife and family; his son referred to him as "Pop", his grandsons' as "Pap Pap". Survivors include a son; Dana A. Smith (Betsy Johnson) of Huron, two grandsons; Joseph Russell Smith (fiancé' Aryel Clarke), James Edwards Smith (fiancé' Rae-Vehn Langford), and a great grandson; Levi James Smith. Russell was preceded in death by his wife of forty five years; Sheila M. (nee: Slater), a daughter; Sheri Lynn Smith, and his parents; Gerald and Ada Jean (nee: Scott) Smith. The family will receive friends from 1-4 PM Sunday April 14, 2019 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
