Russell Edward Schanbacher, 97, of Elyria passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 28, 1923 in Elyria. Russell enjoyed woodcarving. He proudly served his Country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of American Legion Post # 12 in Elyria and Black River Stamp Club. Survivors include his daughters, Linda (John) Cooper, Patricia both of Elyria; son, Russell Lee of Elyria; grandchildren Jason and April; great grandchildren Sophia, Adalyn, and Aiden. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (nee Fye) in 2014; parents Oscar and Anna Schanbacher. Graveside services 1:30 PM Friday, November 20, 2020 at Crown Hill Cemetery (Amherst).
