Ruby G. Staszak-Long (nee Widdowson) 91 of Elyria passed peacefully, enduring a timely struggle with Alzheimer's Disease on January 18, 2015 at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria.She was born in Oberlin October 4 , 1923 to Guy and Jenny Widdowson , their 3rd daughter and sister to five siblings. Blessed with 91 years of life she lived in surrounding areas until making her permanent home in Elyria. Ruby was "Mom" to four children and" Grandma Ruby" to 7 grandchildren and 5 great grands. She was a dedicated and loving mother. Her gentle attributes while caring for children, prompted her family to remember how well they were always cared for. Kind , generous and industrious depict Ruby's unique demeanor. She also had an extraordinary ability to nurture the beauty of God's creation with her green thumb. Her employment with Bendix Westinghouse spanned 16 years where she worked as an assembler. During WWII she was also employed by US Steel. Survivors include her daughters Sandra (Leonard) Johnson , Veronica (Frank) Kaminski both of Elyria , Beverly (Richard) Anderson of Huron, sister Wanda (Melvin) Lawrie of Oberlin. She was preceded in death by her husbands George J. Staszak and Aaron Long, parents Guy and Jenny (Nee Clark) , son George A. Staszak , sisters Marion Olney , Winifred Heidrich , brothers Charles and Arthur. Family will receive friends Friday January 23, 2015 from 10:30-12Noon at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
