Rosemary Hope Lance, (nee-Griesmer-Filipiak), 82, of Grafton passed away of natural causes on Tuesday March 16, 2021 at the Life Care Center of Elyria. Rosemary was born May 17, 1938 in Geneva, OH. And lived in Grafton for most of her life. She was a 1956 graduate of Geneva High School and a 1960 graduate of Ohio University. Rosemary was a Speech Therapist for the Midview School District for 32 years and also began Lance Catering and Concessions and proudly owned and operated it for more than 20 years with her late husband. She was also a member of both the Belden United Methodist Church and Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Rosemary is survived by her children, John (Donna), Filipiak, Mary (John) Eiklor, Michael (Melissa) Filipiak, David Filipiak (Rex), Kathy (Bill) VanArnhem and Tom Lance (Les); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Suzanne (Richard) Griesmer-Nagy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, William Lance in 2016 and her parents, Emil and Cecilia Griesmer. The family will receive friends Wednesday March 24, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. in the gathering area of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 708 Erie St., Grafton,until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sanctuary of the church at 11:00 a.m.. The Rev. John P. Seabold, pastor will be the Celebrant. Facial coverings and social distancing are required. The Mass will be livestreamed at olqpgrafton.org. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Grafton-Midview Public Library 983 Main St. Grafton, OH. 44044.
