Obituary

Rose Sobotka, (nee-Botos), 89, of Elyria passed away Wednesday July 9, 2014 at her home from complications of diabetes. She was born December 1, 1924 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Rose worked as a assembler at the former Bendix-Westinghouse Co. in Elyria for 33 years, retiring in 1983. She was a lifelong member of the Magyar United Church of Christ in Elyria where she formerly served on the Dorcas Guild and helped with the cabbage roll sales and with the noodle making. She enjoyed traveling, casino trips and attending various church senior groups. Her biggest source of joy was her son Jeff with whom she made her home. Survivors include her son Jeff Sobotka of Elyria; caregiver, Maryanne French of Elyria and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Roza Botos and brothers, Alex, Joseph and Andrew Botos. The family will receive friends on Monday June 14, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the Magyar United Church of Christ 6119 West River Rd., S. The Rev. Alana Kelley will Officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. In liue of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria. 322-4626.
