Rose M. Smith, (nee-Vinson), 70, of Eaton Township passed away Thursday November 2, 2017 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky following a long illness. She was born October 17, 1947 in Logan, WV. And was an Eaton Township resident for most of her life. Rose worked as a waitress at the former Ponderosa Steakhouse in Elyria for 15 years. Survivors include her sons, Steven (Tonya) Smith and John Smith Jr.; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Shelton, Cora Alley and Melda Boateng; brothers, Fred, Cecil, Randall and Roger Vinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Sr. in 2005, sisters, Ella Mae Sizemore and Betty Vinson and brothers, Danny and Billy Vinson. The family will receive friends Wednesday November 8, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Specialists 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Rev. Dorothy Kent will Officiate. Burial will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
