Ronald E. Smith, 85, of Elyria passed away Sunday June 23, 2024 at University Hospitals main campus in Cleveland. He was born July 23, 1938 in Alton, IL. And was an Elyria resident for most of his life. Ron was employed as an electrician at the Ford Motor Company in Brookpark, retiring in 2001. He served in the United States Marine Corps., was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 3341, the Elyria United Polish Club and the Elyria Elks Lodge #465. Ron enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking and painting. Survivors include his daughters, Ronda (Bruce) Hawks and Vikki Bonafield; son, Daniel (Greta) Smith; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Anne in 2017. The family will receive friends Monday 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday July 2, 2024 at St. Mary Cemetery, Lake Ave., Elyria. The Rev.
