Ronald Joseph Schaefer Sr., 81, of Elyria passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 at New Life Residential Center in Lorain following a brief illness. He was born July 22, 1939 in Elyria. Ron was the owner of Eastern Heights Variety. He enjoyed Remote control (boats and planes), and woodworking. He was a life-long member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Elyria.Survivors include his wife of 39 years Bernice (nee Ellis); daughter Diane (Chris) Sackett of Toledo; son Ronald Jr. (Michelle Calcaterra) of Spruce, MI.; step-daughters Cynthia (Chris) Czernec, Diane ( Raymond) Yeager; step-sons Russ and Eric Hines; grandchildren Christopher Henson, David Gast; brother Ken (Mary Ann) Schaefer of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Loretta Schaefer (nee Nickoli),; granddaughter Brandee Marie Bode. There will be no visitation or services. Burial Private. Per cdc guidelines social distancing will apply. MASKS ARE REQUIRED. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
