Obituary

Robin W. Brewer, known to his friends and family as Rob, unexpectedly departed this world for the big Shoe in the sky on July 1, 2023. If the kind of man he was determined his seat, then Rob is surely in a VIP box, looking down on us playing this game of life and cheering our every big gain. For all his gruff and sarcastic exterior, Rob was above all else a supporter, someone who would give every ounce of his time and his energy to the people and things he loved. Yes, Rob loved the Buckeyes like a religion and bled scarlet and gray, but Ohio State football was only one of his many loves. For over twenty years, he volunteered with the American Legion raising money for causes such as child welfare and the Special Olympics. He held national, state, and district office positions for the Sons of The American Legion. He was also a member of the Elks, Polish, and Grafton VFW. The reason Rob put so much heart into their success was to honor his father. When Rob loved you or even liked you, he'd give you all the effort he could give. He knew that the best way to show how much you care is to simply show up when you're really needed. Maybe he learned that from all the Hallmark Christmas movies he binged every year. Those who knew Rob also know he was a grill-master without compare, someone who had his own cult following for his regionally famous Brewer Burgers. Making burgers was a way to connect with the people he loved. Every Brewer Burger was a token of just how much Rob cared, even when it seemed like he was the coolest, most cavalier guy in the room. If you were in Rob's inner circles, you had to expect that he'd shoot some sarcastic arrows at you, but you also knew there was nothing he wouldn't do for you when the chips were down. It was a trait that made him someone everyone loved. It was what made him a great son, a great father, a great husband, a great Papa, and a great friend. It was what made him a good man, and why he's in that VIP box in the sky right now. Rob is survived by his mother, Ruth Nichols; wife, Barbara (nee: Nutter); children, Joe (Brenda); Justin (Emily), Blake (Dana), Erin (Kurt) Fawver, Abby (Anthony) Earl; Aunt Rose Jost, and 15 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Lemiel Brewer and step-father Gordon (Pepaw) Nichols. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 4 PM until the time of service at 7 PM at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at St RT 57) Elyria, OH 44035.
