Roberta F. "Patty Jean" Ruhl, (nee-Thomas), 81, of Elyria passed away Tuesday April 23, 2019 at her home following a long illness. She was born May 2, 1937 in Long Branch, WV. And was an Elyria resident for most of her life. Roberta worked as a Home Health Care Aide, proudly served her country in the United States Navy, was a member of the American Legion Post 12 and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Conley (Sheldon Benkey); sons, Timothy (Kellie) Conley, Darren (Ann) Conley, Michael (Kim) Oswalt and Jeremiah (Elize) Ruhl; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Shirley Buckland. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2018, 5 sisters and 6 brothers. The family will receive friends Monday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday April 30, 2019 in the funeral home. Pastor Chad Britt of the Elyria Church of God will Officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where members of the V.F.W. Post 1079 will provide full military honors.
