Robert L. Skidmore, 73, of Lorain passed away Wednesday January 9, 2013 at EMH Healthcare following a long illness. He was born October 5, 1939 in Gasaway, WV. And was a Lorain resident for most of his life. Bob worked in assembly at the Ford Motor Co. in Lorain, retiring after 28 years. Following his retirement from Ford, he worked at Drug Mart in Lorain. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and was a avid Hot Wheels car collector. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Santina "Santa" (nee-Curcillo); daughter, Sue (Jim) Stephenson of Elyria; grandchildren, Jordan, Derrick and Tyler Stephenson; sisters, Barbara McCullough, Joanne Skidmore and Cathy McCullough all of West Virginia; brothers, Walter Skidmore of Elyria and Richard Skidmore of West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Skidmore. The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at 7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Rev. Dennis Schmidt will Officiate. Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's choice.
