Richard E. Smith, 74, of Elyria passed away Tuesday July 16, 2013 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a brief illness. He was born September 18, 1938 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Richard worked as a laborer at the Vocational Guidance Center in Elyria. He enjoyed watching sports and game shows on television. Survivors include his sisters, Patricia A. Longbrake and Cheryl J. Keiper both of Elyria and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Isabel Smith. Private services were held on Monday July 29, 2013 at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Hospice 3500 Kolbe Rd. Lorain, OH. 44053.
