Richard A. Plas Jr. 63, of Elyria passed away Saturday October 18, 2014 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake following a long illness. He was born August 5, 1951 in Elyria where he was a lifelong resident. Richard served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of R.A. Plas Paving and co owned R & M Storage with his wife. Richard was a member of St. Mary Church, Amvets Post #32, and V.F.W. Post #1079. He was a very spiritual man, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife of forty years; Emma Marie (nee: Ramic), four children; Gerard J. of Elyria, Heidi M. Gamble (Chad) of Elyria, Andrew J. (Jessica) of Elyria, daughter; Erin M. Tansey (Wayne) of Elyria. Additional survivors include his mother: Julia A. (nee: Toth) of North Ridgeville, sisters; Patricia Frabotta (Dennis) of Grafton, Rachel Lilley of Elyria, Christine Laurion (Christopher) of West Branch, MI, Monica Frankiewicz (Walter) of Avon, Judith Page (Guy) of LaGrange, brothers; Justin (Jaci) of Vermilion, Martin (Beth) of Grafton, Tony L. (Jane) of Grafton. He was the loving grandpa of ten. Richard was preceded in death by twin sons; Brian and Gus, a daughter; Angelica, his father; Richard A. Sr., and a sister; Mary Ann Kelly. The family will receive friends 3-7 PM Friday October 24, 2014 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday October 25, 2014 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria, OH 44035 where Rev. Fr. Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor will be the Celebrant.
