Richard F. Curtis, 74, of Elyria passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 12, 1945 in Ashland and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Richard was employed at the Ford Motor Company in Brookpark for 36 years, where he retired as a foreman. He proudly served in the United States Navy in Vietnam, was a 1964 Elyria High School graduate and enjoyed spending time with his family at his summer home. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara (nee-Hammond); daughter, Patty Simmerman; sons, Rick and Tom; granddaughters, Ashley (Evan) Richardson, Brittany (Collin) Hamilton and Kaitlyn (Jake) Cunningham; grandsons, Steven (Maria) Simmerman and Cory Simmerman. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 PM until the time of services 7:00 PM at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria. Burial will be at 9:30 AM Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman,OH.
