Obituary

Richard Curtis Butcher 88, of Columbia Station passed away Tuesday March 19, 2019 at Life Care Center of Elyria following a long illness. He was born August 13, 1930 in Linn Fork, Gilmer County, WV. Richard served in the US. Army during the Korean War. He retired from U.S. Steel as a crane operator following twenty five years of service. After retiring Richard became a truck driver and retired from driving in 2009. Survivors include his wife Edra Lorell (nee: Goldsmith) whom he married on March 12, 1954, two daughters; Debra Maurer of Columbia Station, Julie O'Brien (Mike) of Columbia Station, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by a son; Terry C. Butcher, his parent's Arthur and Lena Muiel "Merle" (nee: Smith) Butcher, five brothers; Rondell Lee, Robert Delano, Leman "Ralph", Jack Leon, Jude Wayne. Funeral services 11:00 AM Saturday March 23, 2019 at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church 38550 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria, OH 44035, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM. Pastor Adam Spacagna will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted where V.F.W. Post #1079 will provide full military honors. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Lorain County 4-H Endowment Fund 42110 Russia Rd. Elyria, OH 44035.
