Richard A. Burke, 93, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. He was born in Elyria on February 12, 1930 to parents David and Claire (nee: Westlake). He received his Associates degree in business at Lorain County Community College. Richard was a branch manager at Lorain County Bank in Avon. He was active in church, and enjoyed vacationing in Ft. Myers during the winter and the Outer Banks in the summer. He also enjoyed taking drives in the country on Sundays. Survivors include his daughter, Debby (Charles) Lance; sister, Carol (John) Noblitt; grandchildren, Jason (Christina), Justin (Erin McAdams), Andrew Lance, Ashley (Eric) Csata, Bradley (Katie) Dieringer; great-grandchildren,Abby, Graham, Rosie, and Sara Lance, Trenton and Tatum Csata, Sherlock and Quinn Dieringer; son-in-law, Scott (Homer) Dieringer. He is preceded in death by his wife 73 years, Phyllis Jean (nee: Givens); daughter, Laurie Dieringer, and sister, Susan Long. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 4 PM – 6 PM at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11 AM at the Washington Avenue Christian Church 301 Washington Ave. in Elyria (please meet at church). Pastor Nathan A. Russell will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst where full military honors will be provided by the North Ridgeville VFW Post #9871.
