Richard L. Bungard, 86, of Elyria passed away Saturday April 7, 2018 at the Ohio Veteran's Home in Sandusky following a brief illness. He was born January 24, 1932 in Oberlin and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Dick worked as a machinist at the Bendix-Westinghouse Company for 19 years, served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, was a member of the Elyria Moose Lodge and a life member of both the V.F.W. Post 1079 and AMVETS Post 32. Survivors include his daughters, Susan Bungard (Alvin Thomas) and Shelley (John) Barbarotta; sons, Timothy (Sheila), Terrence (Diane) and Scott (Tammie) Bungard; 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie in 2000. The family will receive friends Thursday 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday April 13, 2018 in the chapel at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, where members of V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct full military honors.
