Reed R. Bennett, 86, of Elyria passed away Friday June 10, 2016 at UH Elyria Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born April 17, 1930 in Cremo, WV. And was an Elyria resident for most of his life. Reed was employed as a truck driver for Fruehauf Trucking for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a United States Army veteran, a member of the Avon Lake Masonic Lodge, enjoyed hunting and watching auto racing and was an avid Cleveland Indians Baseball fan. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Helena (nee-Kerby); daughter, Sharon (Philip) Anthony; son, Gary (Marjory) Bennett; grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Mark, Kevin, Kyle, Megan, Brigin and Morgan; 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mabel Bennett and a sister, Reva Boggs. The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 14, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 5:15 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Rev. Kathy Ketchum will Officiate. Burial will be private.
