R. Michael Schuster, 74, of Elyria passed away Saturday February 27, 2026 at his home.

Mike was born December 8, 1951.

He attended St. Agnes School in Elyria and was a 1970 graduate of Elyria High School and served in the United State Marine Corp. from 1971 until 1976 and enjoyed his service time spent in Japan and enjoyed Japanese culture and artifacts. An avid golfer, Mike played weekly at Valley of the Eagle in Elyria with his friends where the workers were like family. He was an avid Cleveland Guardians baseball and Cavalier fan as well as college football. He loved to can, cook, bake and freeze jams, pickles, peppers, chili, and the list goes on. He retired from Flying Tiger/Fed Ex as a distinguished and honored sales rep. spending time in Arizona, California and Tennesee before returning to Elyria in 2010 following retirement.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather Black; mother, Frances Schuster (nee-Fritz); brother, Timothy (Rosie) Schuster; sisters, Nancy Blackburn, Mary Ann ( Don) Kuehs and Jean (Rick) Kohls, brother, R. Joseph (Jessica) Schuster, step-sisters, JoAnne (Ben) Spade and Julie (Ray) Yoshimoto.

He was preceded in death by his father Ralph (Margaret) Schuster, sister, Sandra (Gary) Reep, brothers, Jon, Paul and Larry Schuster and step-brother Jimmy Skaggs.

Memorial Mass will be Wednesday March 11, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Church 611 Lake Ave., Elyria, where friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A lunch will follow at Valley of the Eagles 1100 Gulf Road, Elyria.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Alter and Rosary Society 509 Poplar St., Elyria.
