Portia (Petruzzi) Fayer, age 97 entered eternal rest October 16, 2025.  She is now with her beloved husband, George, who entered eternal life in 2004.

At age 14 she moved to North Ridgeville and then to Elyria when her father worked at Bendix.  She graduated from Elyria High School in 1945, then she worked for J.C. Penney Co., where she met her husband, who was a carpenter when the store was remodeled.  They were married in 1948 and they traveled doing remodeling stores for the J. C. Penney Co. until they had their first son, George.

They settled in Elyria and had their daughter Pam and another son, Alan. After a severe injury to his back her husband once again was on the road working as Construction Manager for J.C. Penney Co. while Portia stayed with the children until he retired in 1989 and they travelled around the United States and to Italy and Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her husband, father Philip Petruzzi, mother Esther Grafton, sister Lodema Taylor and brother Eldred Petruzzi. She is survived by her sons, George IV (Martha) and Alan (Melinda), her daughter Pamela, her granddaughter Julie McCutcheon of Tennessee, grandsons George V (Jennifer), Spencer, Tom (Erica), 6 great grandchildren Sophie, Lydia, Myles, Connor, Audrey and George VI, step grandchildren Jeremy, Tressa and Justin and step great grandsons Randy and  Gage. A special thank you to Rosie Jarvin for the friendship she shared with Mom while rummage sale buddies and to nieces Linda and Patty for their special loving care. Loved spending time with family, her cats Mittens, Mitzi and Morris.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday October 25, 2025 at St. Mary Cemetery 7284 Lake Ave. Elyria, OH 44035 where The Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor will officiate. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home of Elyria (440)322-4626. The family suggests that memorial contributions in Portia's memory be sent to The Alzheimer's Association 23215 Commerce Park STE 300 Beachwood, Ohio 44122.
