Phyllis M. Bailey, (nee-Smith), 81, of Elyria passed away Thursday September 22, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness. She was born May 28, 1930 in Cambridge, OH. And was a Elyria resident for most of her life. Phyllis worked in the home health care field, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Elyria and enjoyed cooking, baking and crafts. Survivors include her daughter Karen Barnard of Elyria; sons, Jim Rogers and Gene Rogers both of Elyria; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Smith of Elyria; brother, Harold Smith of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her husband Max, daughter, Diane, and 2 grandchildren. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church 110 Hope Ct., Elyria.The Rev. Orpha Linville will Officiate. Private burial will be held at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Twp.. In liue of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church.
