Phyllis J. Burke (nee: Givens), age 91, of Elyria, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Ames Hospice in Westlake. Phyllis was born in Martin's Ferry, OH on May 15, 1931 and graduated from Elyria High School in 1949. She married her sweetheart, Richard "Dick" Burke on November 5th that same year. Phyllis worked as a Dental Assistant, and enjoyed vacationing in Fort Myers, FL in the winter, Outer Banks in the summer, and taking drives in the country on Sundays. Survivors include her husband, Richard; daughter, Debby (Charles) Lance; brother, Donald Givens; grandchildren, Jason (Christina), Justin (Erin McAdams), and Andrew Lance, Ashley (Eric) Csata, Bradley (Katie) Dieringer; great-grandchildren, Abby, Graham, Rosie, and Sara Lance, Trenton and Tatum Csata, Sherlock and Quinn Dieringer; son-in-law, Scott (Homer) dieringer.  She is preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie Dieringer and sister-in-law, Beatrice Givens. Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria (440) 322-4626 from 2 PM – 4 PM. Funeral service will be on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Washington Avenue Christian Church 301 Washington Ave. Elyria, OH 44035 at 11 AM (meet at church.) Pastor Nathan A. Russell will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
