Phyllis Ann Birmingham (nee: Wagner) 89, of Elyria passed away Monday November 7, 2016 at LifeCare of Elyria following a long illness. She was born in Elyria on November 13, 1926 and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Phyllis was a 1944 Elyria High School graduate , and a 1947 graduate of St. John's School of Nursing in Cleveland, OH. She retired as Registered Nurse following forty two years of service at Elyria Memorial Hospital. Phyllis was also a member of The Harvard Medical School Nurses Health Study Program. Mrs. Birmingham was a member of St. Mary Church and The Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed golfing on a Nurse's Golf League and travel. Survivors include two sons; Michael Birmingham (Kathy) of Amherst, OH, Dale Birmingham (Sandee) of Columbus, OH. Additional survivors include four grandchildren; Brian (Maria) of Corona, CA, Bradd (Sheri) of Westerville, OH, Gregg (Krissy) of Lewis Center, OH, and Ashlee of Columbus, OH, five great grandchildren; Dylan, Nathan, Lyla, Emma, Lee. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Richard T. Birmingham in 1982, her parents; Leonard and Laura (nee: Smith) Wagner, a sister; Jeanne Coe, and a brother; Richard Wagner. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Thursday November 10, 2016 in The Weigand Room at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria where a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday November 11, 2016. Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria.
