Penelope Ann Leydig

Penelope Ann Leydig, 80, of Elyria passed away Monday June 1, 2026.

Born in Lorain to Christine and John Dudash, she spent her entire childhood and young adult years in the city she loved so much. She attended the Lorain City Schools and remained proud of her Lorain roots throughout her life.

After marrying Joseph W. Leydig she devoted herself to being a homemaker and caring for her family. She worked at McDonalds in North Ridgeville to earn extra spending money for her children, always looking for ways to bring them joy. One of her goals was to save enough to buy a swimming pool for the kids, reflecting her generous and family centered spirit.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Joseph W. Leydig, her children Joseph W. Leydig Jr. (Heidi) and Charity (Adam) Fiala and grandchildren, Erin, Matthew and Nathan.

The family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-6:30 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday June 5, 2026 at the funeral home.

The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold will Officiate.

Burial will follow at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
