Peggy Ann Schoger

Peggy Schoger (nee-McClellan), 89, passed away peacefully in her home August 12, 2026, following a long illness.

Born in Banner, Virginia in 1936 to the late Errette and Clora McClellan, Peggy lived a life centered around faith, family and service. A devoted Christian, she was an active and dedicated member of New Life Baptist Church from 1982 until its closing. Over the decades, she faithfully served on numerous church committees and poured her heart into teaching Sunday school, guiding generations of young people in their faith. Above all, Peggy cherished her family. She found immense joy in spending time with her children, and grandchildren, and she never turned down a good shopping trip. Her warmth, generosity, and strong spirit will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Errette and Clora McClellan; her beloved daughter, Donna Withrow; her son-in-law, Tom Taylor, and her four brothers and sisters. She leaves behind her loving children, Debra White, Karen Elder (Dale), Teresa Buchanan (Mike) Sandra Taylor (the late Tom), Kim Buchanan, Melissa Mangan (Mark), and Starla Williams (Rick), along with a host of cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Peggy’s life on Wednesday August 19, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria.

In honor of Peggy and her favorite color the family kindly asks attendees to wear purple.
