Obituary

Pearl Wendorf Sterner, 104, of Canton went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday March 30, 2013. She was born June 9, 1908 in Collinwood, Ohio to Emil and Ann Wendorf. Pearl lived and worked in Elyria most of her life, until moving to the Canton Christian Home in 1998 to be near her daughter. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Chester E. Page and Alvin Sterner, brother, Harold H. Wendorf and grandson, Rev. Todd Alan McMullen. She is the Mother and Mother-in-law of Lois and Alan McMullen. Grandmother to Lisa Christen McMullen and Great Grandmother to Katherine and Andrew Jones and Matthew and Lorraine McMullen. During World War II, Pearl worked at the Bendix-Westinghouse Plant making Military Equipment. She retired from the Worthington Ball Company in 1975 with 25 years of service. She has been a member of the Washington Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for 64 years. Pearl enjoyed having a beautiful flower garden and baking for her family and church. There will be a private graveside service with a Memorial Service planned for a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Benevolent Fund of the Canton Christian Home, 2550 Cleveland Ave., NW, Canton, OH. 44709 or the Washington Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 301 Washington Ave., Elyria, OH. 44035. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria. 322-4626.
