Patricia June Jackson was called home to heaven on Monday, September 28, 2026 at the age of 94. Whether you knew her as Patty, Grandma Great, Aunt Pat or one of her other titles, you know she was a force and walked through life with strength , resilience and generosity.
Patty June was born in Payne, OH. on May 24, 1932 to devoted parents Edna and Clyde Amspaugh. As a child she very involved with LaPorte Methodist Church, Methodist Youth Fellowship and 4-H.
On October 5, 1950 Patty married James Denes and the two built a loving family of six children. Patty was very active in the children’s lives supporting sports, school plays, 4-H, Girl Scouts and Farm Bureau Youth. She put up with countless animals raised by her boys and a horse that often ventured out of his stall to visit the house. She provided care for her son Patrick and was a strong advocate for him and other disabled children. Patty somehow found time to work at Lucy Idol School and remain an active member of Farm Bureau Council.
After the sadness of losinf her first love, Patty began a new chapter when she married Larry Jackson on January 19, 1985. They lived in Penfield and enjoyed going to breakfast, spoiling grandchildren and showing draft horses at the Lorain County Fair.
In her later years Patty enjoyed quilting, baking (her family fought over the kieffles), reading trashy romance novels and always sharing her opinion. This was a trait she held till the very end (ask the nurses). Patty touched many lives, caring for many, except those damn cats (her words not ours).
Beginning in her early days, religion was part of Patty’s life. Her family had strong ties to the former Sacred Heart Church on Irondale. When that Church was decommissioned, Patty paid to have a stained-glass window moved to her home parish, St. Mary Church in Elyria, where it can be enjoyed today.
She was preceded in death by first husband, James Denes; second husband Larry Jackson; siblings Bea, Jane Jim and John; children Barbara Valentik, Jim Joe Denes, Tom Denes, Patrick Denes; grandson, Christopher Denes.
Patty leaves behind her sisters Emma Knowlton and Helen Stephanchick; children Diana Pierce and Debby Higgins (Gerry); 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and legacy of love that cannot be contained in this announcement.
