Ora Nelson Shaw 95 of Elyria passed away Thursday November 20, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side following a lengthy illness. He was born September 18 , 1919 in Vanceburg, Kentucky. Ora served in the U.S. Army during world War II. He worked for Invacare as a welder for many years. Ora enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, and was a very good handyman, . Survivors include his wife Wilma (nee Holland), daughters Lula Hamilton of Elyria , Carolyn Mackey (Robert) of Grafton, sister Flora Dunnigan of Tollesboro, Kentucky , brother Alva Shaw of Ripley, Ohio , five grandchildren; Carrie Foster, Gary Foster, Richard Mackey, Jodie Mackey, Sherri Barr and seven great-grandchildren. Ora was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Sarah (nee Kegley) Shaw. The family will receive friends 2-3PM Saturday November 29, 2014, at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria 440-322-4626, where memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM immediately following visitation. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Ora's memory be sent to the charity of the donor's choice. Burial will be private.
