Olive Maiher Niegowski, 96, of Elyria, Ohio, entered into eternal life November 24, 2019. She was born in Elyria, she resided both in Elyria, and Vero Beach, Florida. Mrs. Niegowski was a parishioner of St. Agnes Church in Elyria, also a member of Altar and Rosary , a long time member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union, and the United Polish Club Ladies Auxillary. She graduated from Elyria High School in 1941. She enjoyed her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Browns. She and her first husband operated a grocery store for 10 years on the west side of Elyria, known as Maiher's grocery. She retired as ticket director of spring training from the Los Angeles Dodgers in Vero Beach, Florida after 17 years. Survivors include son Matthew J. Maiher of Alabama; daughters Rita A. Bek of Hiram,GA. And Madalyn Bauer of Medina; stepson Wm. J. Niegowski of Mt. Vernon, WA.; step daughters Peggy Zeiser of AllentownPA., and Carol Merritt of Jacksonville, FL.; 8 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Matthew J. Maiher, her second husband Zigmund J. Niegowski; her parents Helen and Walter Kowalewski; sister Jennie Stawicki; brothers Tom Kovalesky and Frank Kowalewski. Family will receive friends 12Noon until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 1 PM Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at St. Agnes Church 611 Lake Ave. Elyria, Ohio 44035. Rev. Fr. Charles Ryba will be the Celebrant and Rev. Fr. Albert Viegas, Pastor will be the Concelebrant. Burial St. Mary (Elyria).
