Obituary

Norman Robert Legg, 83, of Elyria passed away Thursday December 28th surrounded by his family. Born June 22, 1940 in Harrison WV, son of William Scott Legg and Ora Josephine (nee: Riffle). Norman moved to Elyria in 1963 after his military service. He retired from Ford Assembly Plant in Lorain after 28 years and continued working for several more years as a mechanic. He loved his family and enjoyed the company of many friends and relatives. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, and working on all types of machinery. Norman enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter that never missed a harvest season. He will be most remembered for his constant smile, laughter, and generosity. Norman made friends everywhere he went and never met a stranger. His love for other people and consistent motivation led him to volunteer services at the United Methodist Home and Veteran Memorial Honor Guard. Norman is survived by his wife Ethel Legg (nee Gartner ), his children: Albert Rinehart (Ann), Marla Figueroa (Ricardo), Scott Leety (the late Silke), Tiffaney Gracia (Jose Jr.), Christopher Legg (Natasa). He is also survived by his siblings: Brother Stanley Foster Legg, Elyria OH. and sister Ruth (Chuck) Hardway, Elyria OH. Additional survivors include fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Norman is preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark Rinehart (Tina), half-brothers: James Elmer and Oscar Neal Legg. Brothers: Lawrence Earl, Denver Lee, and David Franklin Legg. Half-sister: Edith Grace Gratz. Sisters: Bessie Braley, Anna Elnora Duffield, Clarice Pettit and infant sister Madge Irene. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Wednesday January 3, 2023 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria (440)322-4626 where funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday January 4, 2023. Pastor Dan Reinke will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon where V.F.W. Post #1079 will provide full military honors.
