Nila I. Wharton (nee Tompkins), 94, of Elyria passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain. She was born March 5, 1924 in Grafton. Nila worked for the Midview School System as the head chef for 29 years. She enjoyed bird watching, traveling and spending time with family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids. Survivors include her daughter Mary Juhasz of Elyria; sons John (Cynthia) of Beaver Creek and Ray (April) of Los Cruces, N.M.; grandchildren Max, Ben, Sarah, Jackie and Jessie; great grandchildren Ian, Ella, and Maddie; sisters Bernice Herman of Elyria, Maxine Peachey, of S. Carolina, and Phyllis Glunt of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1983; sisters Dorothy Jeager, Stella Reisinger, and Alice Smith. Family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life 1-5 PM Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Indian Hollow Reservation Pavilion 1 Parsons Rd. (Grafton). Burial Private.
