Nelson Lee "Grandpa Grump" Setliff, 59, of Huntington left this world on Thursday, November 30, in the company of his loving family. From birth, Nelson marched to the beat of his own drum. He had a knack for good-spirited mischief that was accompanied by a roaring, infectious laugh. He felt most at home when dominating a pool table, or feeling the wind on his face while riding his Harley. His friendship was powerful and his loyalty was immeasurable. The impact of his loss feels too large to put to words. Nelson is survived by his son, Tony (Kristen); father, Paul; sisters Darlene and Pam; brothers Paul, Brad (Susan) and Darrell; five nieces and nephews; and seven beautiful grandchildren-Renee, Angelina, Sophia, Tyler, Gavin, Ean and Jakson-who were the light of his life. He also happily took the responsibility of serving as a surrogate father and grandfather to the families of Amanda Riggs and Paxton Pettibone, whom he loved as though they were his own. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Setliff and his mother, Eva "Jan" Setliff. Although his family and friends will miss him with every breath, they are comforted to know he is now reunited with two important pieces of his heart. The family will receive visitors from 1-4 PM Sunday December 3, 2017 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) in Elyria (440)322-4626. A Celebration of Nelson's Life will be held immediately following visitation at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
