Nellie Jean Denney, (nee-Firl), 80, of Elyria passed away Wednesday at the Lifecare Center of Elyria following a long illness. She was born August 1, 1931 in Johnstown, PA. and was a Elyria resident since 1952, coming from Jerome, PA.. Jean worked as a machine operator at Trio Products in Elyria for 32 years, retiring in 1994. While working there she served as the chief shop steward for the U.A.W. Local 996. She was a charter member of Grace Brethren Church in Elyria where she served as the Sunday School secretary and sang in the choir. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and was a avid Cleveland Indians Baseball fan. Survivors include her son, Paul Denney of Elyria; nieces, Gayle McGee and Barbara Curio both of Elyria and a great-niece, Erin McGee of Seven Hills. She was preceded in death by a sister, Fern Cobaugh. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria.440-322-4626. Burial will be at Lichty Cemetery, Summit Mills, PA..
